Dr. William Opoku-Agyeman is an accomplished and versatile professional who excels in health data science, analyses, and healthcare management, particularly emphasizing population health management. His unique combination of expertise allows him to drive evidence-based decision-making and optimize healthcare delivery to improve outcomes for entire populations.
Dr. Opoku-Agyeman advises healthcare leaders to evolve in the coming years, partnership formation, value-based care strategies, and alignment/funds flow. He has worked with nationally leading academic health systems, children’s hospitals, and healthcare- focused companies over the last 5 years.
In addition to his role as a Health Data Scientist and Analyst, Dr. Opoku-Agyeman is an Associate Professor of Healthcare Management. He empowers his students and colleagues to understand the broader context of population health, the social determinants of health, and the impact of policy decisions on population-level outcomes.
He earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from The University of Alabama, Birmingham, Health Services Administration. He holds master’s in Epidemiology and Environmental Health (MPH) from Kent State University and a master’s degree in Geographic Information (MSc) from the University of Akron.
has broad management and operations experience as a CEO & senior executive of hospitals, multi-hospital alliances, community health centers, and physician practices. Northrop received his BA from Lafayette College in Easton, PA and his Masters in Healthcare Management from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business, in Durham, North Carolina. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and an Advanced Member of Hospital Financial Management Association (HFMA).
Following 18 years of direct management operations, Mr. Northrop served as a lead project consultant helping health systems, insurers, and businesses: execute lasting organizational change, achieve sustained stakeholder ‘buy-in’, develop new markets, and execute successful new technology/new product rollouts.
Specific additional projects by Mr. Northrop have included: hospital organizational turn-arounds, ‘re-creation’ of physician practices, rationalization of supply chain operations, and strategic improvement of emergency department operations. Other areas of expertise have included: managing industrial medicine/occupational health services for large employers, developing Centers of Excellence networks, and the development of behavioral health & SNF/extended care facilities.
